Plus, get a behind-the-scenes look at what makes the 2022 Shelby Mustangs so special.
Three New American Icons.
One legendary partnership.
When Shelby and Ford collaborated on a high-performance Mustang after winning Le Mans and the sports car racing world championship, Hertz joined the victory lap with a special version of the car for its 1966 rental fleet. This collaboration led to the unique Shelby American and Hertz “Rent-A-Racer” program and the creation of Shelby American cars specially designed for Hertz.
Six decades of pure driving adrenaline.
The new vehicles pay tribute to the original “Rent-A-Racer,” the legendary 1966 Ford Shelby GT350-H, and build on Hertz’s legacy to give drivers the unique opportunity to drive elite, high-performance vehicles they can’t find anywhere else.
American ingenuity at its best.

We teamed with Hertz to create the 1966 Ford Shelby GT350-H, which was one of the most exciting rental cars in the world. The legacy continues.
The brands then reunited 40 and 50 years later (in 2006 and 2016) with a throwback to the famed 1966 Shelby GT350-H “Rent-A-Racer” program with the Shelby GT-H. The car sported a classic, muscular look with additional performance capabilities, while the 2006 and 2016 model years cars were fastbacks and the 2007 versions were convertibles – all of which are among the most coveted by collectors worldwide. These new limited edition Ford Shelby models will continue the legacy of the program and pave way for future additions to the “Rent-A-Racer” Hertz fleet.
